26 JULY 2008, WELCOMING CEREMONY OF B11 LIVING QUARTERS MODULES FROM GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN TO BROOKE DOCKYARD, KUCHING
This ceremony is to mark the milestone achievement of the arrival of the first shipment of B11 Living Quarters modules from Gothenburg, Sweden.
B11 Living Quarters and Helideck Project was awarded to Brooke Dockyard Engineering Works Corporation by Sarawak Shell Berhad on 6 August 2007.
It is a redevelopment project of the current B11 Living Quarters facilities, where the existing 14-bed Emergency Living Quarters will be replaced with the new Light Weight Stressed Skin 42-bed Living Quarters.
Brooke Dockyard secured the project from Sarawak Shell based on collaboration with a renowned Light Weight Stressed Skin Living Quarters specialist, Emtunga Offshore AB from Sweden. The confidence given by Shell to Brooke Dockyard/Emtunga is a great honour for this marks the first of its kind, a light weight stressed living quarters to be built and installed in Malaysia. The modulars (31 in total) were built in Gothenburg and will be assembled in Sejingkat as a complete living quarters unit.
First phase of the modules, arriving today at Sejingkat (26/7/2008) is the first shipment of 14 modules. The second shipment of 17 modules are expected to arrive Kuching on 13 August 2008.
With the close cooperation of Emtunga’s personnel, Brooke Dockyard’s engineers have managed to cope and gain invaluable knowledge on the technicalities and work processes of building a light stressed skin module.
The successful delivery of the first shipment reflects the great teamwork and endevours of all personnel involved with Shell’s personnel always providing the guidance to the team.
The whole living quarters is expected to be completely assembled by October 2008 and will henceforth be loaded-out offshore for final installation at B11, offshore Bintulu.
Presently, Brooke Dockyard is also undertaking F6 and F23 Living Quarter Projects from Sarawak Shell Bhd which is due to completion by mid of August. Brooke Dockyard is thankful to Shell for the continued support in awarding the project.
