5TH MARCH 2007 - CONTRACT SINGING CEREMONY BETWEEN EXXONMOBIL EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION MALAYSIA INC AND BROOKE DOCKYARD FOR THE JERNEH-B PLATFORM
Exxonmobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc.(EMEPMI), a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation, has awarded a contract worth RM52 MILLION TO Sarawak-based Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works Corporation (BDEWC) for the Jerneh B gas production platform.
A contract signing ceremony between EMEPMI Chairman, Liam M Mallon and Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works Corporation Chairman, Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim Tun Abang Haji Openg, was held on the 5th March 2007.
The ceremony was witnessed by Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development & Communications and Rural Development,Lee Kim Shim, who represented the Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Development & Communications and Rural Development, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.)Alfred Jabu anak Numpang who was unable to attend the ceremony.
Under the terms of the contract signed, BDEWC will fabricate and construct the platform jacket and topsides.The contractro will also undertake the associated host tie-ins and offshore hook-up and commissioning works. The Jerneh B platform will be located at offshore Terengganu. Overall tonnage weight for the fabrication work is around 1,130 metric tonnes. The construction work is expected to commence early March as planned, until the load out of the substructure and module expected to be around October 2007.
Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim bin Tun Abang Haji Openg , Chairman of Brooke Dockyard said."Brooke Dockyard is looking forward together with EMEPMI on the Jerneh-B project.
